Leaving tomorrow!!
It's happening! I have officially checked in for my flight! I'm pretty much all packed, all of my documents are printed and collected and I have the rest of today and tomorrow until I leave for the airport (just after noon) to double checked for anything forgotten.
I'm happy to be well under my luggage weight limit by 10 pounds! I was really worried about this, but because I am taking many light layers, the weight isn't too bad. Most of my weight comes from products I am taking with me such as sunscreen, first aid kit and bug repellant. Those will only get used up while I am there, getting lighter each day. I also bought some compression packing cubes, and a compression hanging organizer so everything is nicely organized and taking up less space in my bags.
When going on a safari in Tanzania, or flying on domestic flights once there, they request that you only have soft sided luggage without wheels. I am taking a waterproof 60L duffel bag. Not that I need it to be waterproof during the dry season - but better safe than sorry. Also, I have read that waterproof is also good for keeping dust out, which is pretty common during the dry season!
I'm arriving 2 days before my tour officially starts so that I have time to adjust and recover from any jet lag, and I didn't want to be rushing or worried about missed flights, lost baggage, etc.
Next time I post may be from an airport or airplane!
