Emerald Zanzibar Resort and Spa Part 3
This is my last morning here and I didn’t want to waste it! I have woken up each morning around 7:30am without an alarm. This is very good for me, although I’m sure being in bed by 10 each evening really helps! I decided to not pack at all and just feel like it was a regular day. Check out is noon, and my transfer to the airport comes at 1pm, so I have lots of time. I had a very pretty breakfast and took my time. The manager came over to see me to say that I must have eaten somewhere else last night because he didn’t see me. He was right, I ate at Carnivorous, however in a resort with 240 rooms almost filled to capacity I was surprised he noticed. I came to this big resort to be anonymous and just blend in with crowd and be completely selfish. However I was surprised by how attentive the genuine the staff are. It is perfect. They take exceptional care of me, but without being in my way or too aggressive. It’s even better than I had hoped.
I got to the main pool around 8:30am, and already most of the prime chairs were reserved, however, because someone had taken the second chair from one umbrella it was left unoccupied and was perfect for me! Right by the pool with a beautiful view of the Indian Ocean. As soon as I stood beside it a pool attendant was right beside me asking how many towels I wanted. I waded in the pool and he came and set my chair up for me. So nice! They always do that. I’m usually so early that I just get my own towels, but I always see them carrying towels to the pool or beach and helping people get all set up in perfect spots.
Here’s a picture of the snails at night with my hand for reference.
Ha ha! I look dirty in the above photo - but it’s just a tan - it’s not actually that dark - just shadows enhancing it.
So I went back to my room and had a very refreshing shower, and got off all of the salt, sunscreen and pool water. I did some creative packing/getting dressed as here to Dar Es Salam will be around 30°C, but then once I am in the air conditioning of that airport I will change in to warmer clothes for two long flights home. My first one today is only 30 mins, and I expect my Zanzibar departure is from another outdoor airport…. I have check out of my room and have set up camp in the shade for the next two hours until my ride comes. Fortunately I still have access to everything except my room - so food and drinks and comfy spots to hang out and read. Pretty sweet! I can handle this. My next post will probably be from home recounting my flights…or this could be my last post - often not in the mood to write anything once I get home.
That large pool was gorgeous!!! Loved the steps... Your photos are lovely because there aren't dozens of people in them, and it looks so serene! And the food....!
ReplyDeleteSo glad the resort was as good as you'd hoped! It looks wonderful!
